bangshees are a samba band based in Newcastle upon Tyne who perform around the northeast. We have around 60 members, with the youngest in their twenties and the oldest over 80. All of our members are volunteers who balance drumming with family and work commitments. We are a diverse group of women from various backgrounds that meet every Thursday to practise drumming in preparation to perform at your events.

If you have yet to see us, you are missing out. We perform at a variety of occasions, including parades, community gatherings, workshops, festivals, and wedding ceremonies. We frequently get invited back to perform at events such as the Great North Run and the Lindisfarne Festival. We’ve participated in marches as far away as London and parades in Cumbria.
